Hardscape Handicap Access Ramps

JF Improvements recently completed a Hardscape Handicap Access Ramps Installation Project at a home in Wilmington, DE. The homeowner needed a safer and easier way to get to the front door. Since the old concrete path was cracked and uneven, it became both a safety risk and hard to use every day. So, our team created a plan to build a strong, attractive ramp that would improve both function and curb appeal.

First, we carefully removed the broken concrete. This allowed us to create a clean, level base for the new structure. Then, we graded and compacted the ground to make sure it would drain properly and stay solid over time. Once the base was ready, we built a strong wooden frame. We double-checked all the angles to meet accessibility rules and to ensure a smooth, steady incline.

Next, we installed pressure-treated lumber that resists moisture and weather. We added supports underneath the ramp for extra strength. After that, we built a flat landing at the top of the ramp, right in front of the door. This made it easier for the homeowner to safely enter and exit the house. The ramp blended well with the home’s exterior, making it both useful and nice to look at.

By the end of the project, the new handicap ramp looked great and worked even better. It now provides safe, daily access and helps the homeowner stay independent.
